About the role and team

Are you ready to use your property law skills to help create affordable homes and stronger communities — without compromising your work-life balance?

At Anthony Collins, we’re looking for a Senior Associate (3–10 years PQE) to join our Housing Development team, supporting a growing portfolio of Registered Provider clients. You’ll join a close-knit, purpose-driven team of 3 Partners and 7 Lawyers, working with several of the UK’s leading housing associations.

Our work is all about enabling affordable housing development — whether that’s acquiring s106 affordable housing from developers, purchasing land for new-build projects, or advising clients on site assembly, funding and delivery. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality, pragmatic advice that helps our clients achieve tangible social outcomes.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll:

  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, helping them grow in confidence and capability.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients based on trust, collaboration and expertise.

  • Play an active role in business development and shaping the future of our team.

You’ll also benefit from an environment that’s supportive, sustainable, and people-focused. Unlike many traditional law firms, we’ve moved away from a burnout culture and towards a team-target model that values collaboration and plays to individual strengths. Our chargeable hour targets are realistic and achievable, giving you space to deliver quality work and maintain balance.

As a BCorp certified firm, our commitment to positive impact runs deep — from our approach to clients and colleagues to how we support our communities and protect our planet. We don’t just talk about purpose; we live it every day.

Our Social Housing team is one of the largest at Anthony Collins, spanning Birmingham and Manchester, and offers full-service legal support across Governance, Finance, Housing Management, Construction, Procurement and Real Estate. You’ll be part of a collaborative network that values integrity, respect and the genuine desire to make a difference.

About the candidate

We’re looking for someone who’s confident navigating the world of property development and passionate about using their skills to make a real difference in the housing sector.

You’ll bring experience, enthusiasm and a collaborative mindset to help our clients deliver high-quality, affordable homes and thriving communities.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A proven track record of acting for Registered Providers, housebuilders, developers, landowners, or local authorities involved in housing development.

  • The ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, with a genuine interest in business development and growing trusted partnerships.

  • Confidence to work independently on a range of transactions, including conditional and unconditional contracts, options, golden brick and other affordable housing acquisitions, back-to-back sales, deeds of easement, infrastructure agreements and overage arrangements.

  • A solid understanding of affordable housing transactions and how they connect to plot sales and lender charging.

  • Experience in supervising and supporting junior colleagues, helping them learn and develop in a positive, encouraging way.
