About the role and team

At Anthony Collins Solicitors, we are a values-led law firm with a clear social purpose. We provide specialist legal services across key sectors, including local government, housing, health and social care, and education (academies and multi-academy trusts).

Our Local Government Real Estate team advises a wide range of public sector clients. To support the continued growth of this team, we are seeking a junior solicitor (0–2 years’ PQE) to join our Birmingham office.

Our Vision
We have an established and growing client base in local government and aim to be the leading legal advisers in the sector. We partner with councils, public bodies, and policy-makers to help create stronger and more connected communities.

Local authorities are now leading large-scale, commercially driven projects. From regeneration schemes to joint ventures and strategic land deals, councils need legal advisers who go beyond the black letter of the law—lawyers who understand their operational and political context and can offer pragmatic, timely, and commercially aware advice.

The Role

As a solicitor in our Local Government Real Estate team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting on complex development and regeneration projects, working closely with partners and senior lawyers.

  • Handling a variety of commercial property transactions.

  • Providing support to junior lawyers and legal assistants where appropriate.

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

  • Contributing to business development activity, including attending sector events, delivering training and seminars, and supporting the preparation of tender submissions.

  • Navigating the political dimensions of working with local authorities.

  • Delivering high-quality, commercially focussed legal advice.

  • Playing an active role in the ongoing development of our Local Government Real Estate practice and collaborating closely with colleagues across the firm.

About the candidate

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in a supportive and collaborative environment, working on a diverse range of real estate matters.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in real estate transactions; prior exposure to public sector work is welcome but not essential.

  • Training at a City firm or a well-regarded regional or national practice.

  • A strong academic background and solid grounding in property law.

  • The ability to build long-lasting and trusting relationships with colleagues and clients.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

  • A commitment to delivering high-quality, practical legal advice in a professional, collaborative, and inclusive manner.
