About the role and team

As a trainee legal secretary, you will work closely with the Property secretarial team, assisting them in providing consistent and effective support to lawyers in their delivery to clients. You will also provide support to allocated fee earners, developing strong and efficient ways of working together as a team. The role will involve - 
 
• Audio typing and the transcribing of letters, emails, attendance notes and reports as necessary
• General administration including paper and electronic filing and opening, maintaining, closing and archiving files
• Receiving telephone calls to the department, and making contact with clients and third parties as required
• Property searches and Land Registry applications - full training will be provided
• Consistently adhere to and improve upon the Secretarial Services Standards
• Assisting with the collation of bills
• Diary management of relevant fee earners as required
• Organise travel and accommodation arrangements when appropriate
• Any other reasonable duty as requested
 
 

About the candidate

We are looking for the following skills/experience - 
  •  A strong level of academic competence through good GCSE in English, Maths and IT
  •  Excellent grammar, spelling and attention to detail
  •  Basic IT skills in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook and be eager and willing to develop skills in digital dictation packages and other IT systems such as presentation packages and document management system
  •  Confident and assured communication manner with the willingness to develop skills as required in telephone call handling
  •  Commitment to keeping all matters confidential
  •  Good motivation and flexibility to meet deadlines, including the possibility of working early, late or through the lunchtime period, with adequate notice
