About the role and team
Anthony Collins are recruiting for a Finance Systems Manager.

This role works with the Finance team and will look after multiple aspects of the Firm’s practice management system (PMS).

The Finance Systems Manager will be pivotal in the development and roll-out of further improvements/customization of the Aderant Expert system across the Firm, as well as supporting the reporting and data analysis requirements of the Finance team and senior management team.

The role will be multi-faceted. Working alongside the Finance Team and other stakeholders of the PMS you will split your time between the upkeep of the system, reporting and improving the system so it delivers real value to the Firm and its staff.



  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of the PMS
  • Working with CMT Heads and CMT Operational Managers on modernisation and new packages such as online billing, matter management and new client onboarding
  • Review current systems processes, configurations, permissions and procedures and propose improvements to improve service, security and information delivery to the firm to get the most out of the PMS
  • Working with the Finance and IT Team, and third parties, co-ordinate and organise upgrades to the PMS and be responsible for organising user acceptance testing
  • To provide innovative solutions wherever possible, focusing on the end user’s experience and firm’s effectiveness
  • Assist with the distribution of financial information, and analysis to legal teams and improve accessibility and efficiency of access
  • Horizon scan new features, modules and releases of the PMS and signpost these to relevant stakeholders
  • Documenting and maintaining system files
  • Be the first point of contact for PMS issues, liaising with external helpdesks and 3rd parties to assist in the resolution of problems
  • Assist in knowledge sharing of best practice and process through the creation of guides and documentation
  • Liaise between IT and Finance and keep both teams up to date on changes and future work to enable scheduling of resources
  • Identify and scope the requirements for new financial and business reports
  • Working with the Business Systems Developer, where necessary, perform data extraction directly from the PMS or via SSRS, including analysis and presentation utilising ad-hoc reports, SQL queries, design and creation of new automated reports
  • Responsibility for the reconciliation of Aderant overnight updates
About the candidate

Person Specification:

  • Experience of Aderant Expert (particularly administration) is essential
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a finance systems role supporting stakeholders within a professional services organisation, preferably legal
  • Experience of SQL, sufficient to perform database queries and basic updates would be preferred
  • An understanding of relational databases and SSRS is desirable
  • Methodical and accurate approach
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships across all areas of the business
  • Focused in delivering to deadlines at a high level of quality
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and takes ownership of work
  • Calm, confident and resilient with a flexible nature
  • Advanced Excel skills and pivot tables is desirable
