About the role and team

Anthony Collins are seeking a motivated Solicitor to join our Planning/Highways team.  The team carries out a wide variety of work focussed on Highway/Planning projects for local government, charities, social business clients, faith communities and registered providers of social housing.

The following are examples of the types of work areas successful candidates could become involved in:

  • Providing advice and support in planning and highways terms to local authorities, faith communities and registered providers.
  • Providing support at planning committee and also working closely with litigation colleagues in relation to judicial review challenges.
  • Providing high level highway/planning advice to clients dealing with major regeneration projects including application of CPOs and cross working with property colleagues.
  • Dealing with drafting of numerous planning and highway agreements, some involving complex regeneration projects including greenfield development and urban extension, but always on the basis that the development so far as possible is of a sustainable nature

Key Duties:

  • Maintaining the highest standards of honesty and integrity in all dealings with clients, colleagues and all people with whom you come into contact.
  • Assisting in, and undertaking, legal research into often complex legal issues that have a meaningful impact for our clients.
  • Dealing with routine correspondence and telephone calls and attending more complex calls and negotiations under supervision to assist more senior fee earners.
  • Drafting and collating construction contracts (again under supervision).
  • Maintaining and collating relevant resources and publications to assist with the wider team’s learning and development.
  • Where requested, to be involved in the production of newsletters, marketing materials and other documents for the benefit of clients generally.
  • Developing knowledge and understanding by attendance at relevant in-house training sessions to support personal and career development. Those undertaking the CILEX qualification must ensure they complete their CPD requirements.
  • Accurately and comprehensively recording all time spent in accordance with the firm’s time recording system.
  • Carrying out such administrative duties as may be required on files maintained and supervised by fee earners.
  • To carry out all other reasonable duties, as required.
About the candidate
You will need to be organised, have attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines whilst working under pressure. Some previous experience of working with clients in housing and regeneration would be desirable although this is not essential. The successful candidate will be committed to providing high quality service to our clients, as well as being a strong team player. You will be dedicated to a career in the legal sector having a positive social impact and have an interest in commercial and construction law.
