About the role and team

We are seeking a highly experienced Private Client Solicitor, who is seeking to secure a role completing a wide range of work, undertaking Estate and Tax Planning, Estate Administration, preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney and Wills and the creation and ongoing administration of trusts. 

The successful candidate will have previous experience of this type of work and will ideally be STEP qualified or working towards the qualification. 

This role is suited to someone looking to continue to develop their technical skills.  The successful candidate will have exposure to fantastic clients and the opportunity to deliver specialist advice alongside a team of likeminded individuals.

Key Tasks:

1.         To provide the services of a Solicitor for Clients in the specific areas of

                                    (i)         Wills

                                    (ii)        Probate and Administration of Estates

                                    (iii)       Lasting Powers of Attorney

                                    (iv)       Trusts

                                    (v)        Court of Protection work

2.         To carry out attendances upon Clients, such work to be carried out as and when required by the nature and timescale of the issue to be dealt with.

3.         To provide an accurate record of legal advice given and in the format prescribed by the firm within the Compliance Handbook

4.         To attend departmental meetings to discuss:

                                    (i)         Client matters

                                    (ii)        Office procedures

                                    (iii)       Secretarial staffing requirements

                                    (iv)       Updates in the law

                                    (v)        Training requirements

                                    (vi)       Reporting on courses attended

5.         To be proactive in development of the two Private Client Departments in line with the Firm’s Strategic Plan, developing ongoing relationships with potential refers, exploring new avenues to secure new contacts and new work.

6.         To carry out file reviews, costs advice and progress reports for cases as required

7.         To assist the other Members as and when required in their workloads, taking on responsibility for their matters in their absence

8.         To represent, promote and act in the best interests of the firm and at all times to act in a manner compatible with the professional status of a Solicitor.

9.         To maintain a continuing professional development record and attend courses to comply with the same.

10.       To supervise secretarial staff as and when required.

11.       To adhere to the firm’s administrative procedures, completing the prescribed documents as required.  

12.       To uphold and comply with the firm’s principles, policies and procedures as amended and updated from time to time.

13.     To comply with all relevant regulatory requirements, including those set out in the SRA Code of Conduct, Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and any other legislation, rules and/or regulations in force from time to time.

14.     To work towards objectives identified and agreed through the performance management process.

 
 
About the candidate
 

Required Competencies:

  • Experience of this specialist area of expertise
  • Qualified Solicitor with current practicing certificate
  • Personable manner

Desirable Competencies

  • STEP Membership
  • Familiarity with the Philips SpeechExec Digital Transcription System
  • Familiarity with Case Management System(s)


This is a hybrid role, which will enable the successful candidate to split their working week between their home and our Macclesfield office.
