About the role and team
Anthony Collins Solicitors is a specialist law firm based in Birmingham and Manchester.  Making a positive difference in local communities is at the heart of what we do and our work in some of these areas is of national relevance.  We attract the highest calibre of people who are genuinely passionate about their work.

We are currently seeking to recruit a qualified lawyer with a background in Construction law to join our large and well established Construction team.  Like many of the positions with our firm, this is a unique opportunity to do fantastic quality work with inspirational clients.  The ideal candidate will have 2 - 5yrs PQE (or equivalent), and relevant experience to assist the team in delivering a broad range of advice relating to construction related matters including disputes across our sectors, including for housing, local government, social business and charity clients. It would also be an advantage (but not essential) for the successful candidate to have some public procurement experience (either non-contentious or contentious).

A key focus of the role involves working with our dispute team who handle a wide range of work including complex construction disputes, cladding and fire related issues, contract rectification and payment disputes across our specialist sectors. You will be supporting senior lawyers and supervising junior lawyers in reviewing construction contracts, collateral warranties and professional appointments, drafting for adjudication, arbitration and litigation and preparing advice notes and generally providing support on the litigation matters. There will also be the opportunity to get involved in the non-contentious work undertaken within the team.

About the candidate
 The ideal candidate will:
  • have significant experience of construction dispute work and also an interest to work within our specialist sectors;
  •  have a clear drafting style, using plain English;
  • have knowledge of the main standard form building contracts and professional appointments;
  • have knowledge of the CPR;
  •  have sound general legal knowledge; and
  • be able to work on their own initiative or within a team.
The candidate will mainly focus on contentious work but there shall be opportunities to support across the team as and when the need arises.

The appointed individual will join a firm that can offer good opportunities for development, where they will be able to play a key role in the future of the firm’s dispute offering within specialist sectors.
